Established in 2022, The Heal Alliance was founded by Krystal Grimes, a licensed professional counselor and mental health strategist who, after years of community-led work recognized the need for a space dedicated to healing and connection in rural communities. Focused on traditionally marginalized populations, we center the powers of healing, community, and transformation in everything we do. Based out of Bastrop, Texas, and part of a larger network of alliances across the United States, The Heal Alliance is working to create the conditions that will catalyze and bolster community well-being in rural Texas.
Fostering Rural Community Wellbeing
Our Impact Goals
Create the Conditions to Heal the Effects of Historical Trauma
Many rual communities have experienced generational challenges that have led to long-term emotional and mental health struggles. By focusing on healing past experiences, we can build stronger, more resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Goal 01
Collective Learning/ Capacity Building
Capacity-building initiatives empower rural communities members by enhancing local abilities to address health and social issues more effectively. By building community capacity to co-create and implement solutions tailored to local needs, we promote sustainable health equity.
Goal 02

Place-Based Investing and Participatory Grantmaking
Place-based investing and participatory grantmaking are essential strategies for building community capacity and strengthening well-being. This goal leads to enhanced community trust, addresses unique rural challenges, promotes longterm sustainability and more.
